Mrs. Katie C. Nash, died at her home, 120 West Sycamore street at 2:20 o'clock Tuesday morning. The deceased is survived by her parents, three brothers, and seven children, three daughters and four sons. Funeral services will be conducted this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock from the North Vincennes M. E. church. Rev. Nash will have charge of the services. The remains will be laid to rest in Fairview cemetery.

NEELEY, Glenna

Glenna Neeley, 98, 1900 College Ave., Vincennes, formerly of Flat Rock, Ill., died at 3:02 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at BridgePointe Health Campus.

Born Nov. 18, 1907, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Thomas and Lydia (Holloway) Alford.

Glenna was a homemaker and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Palestine, Ill. She belonged to the Heathsville Home Bureau Club and was a devoted wife and mother, and loved her grandchildren.

Her husband, Harold Neeley, is deceased. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Neeley; her parents, Thomas and Lydia (Holloway) Alford; one sister; two brothers; and a grandchild, Timmy Harker.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Cozart and her husband, Gene, of Vincennes, and Judith Clanton and her husband, Dr. John Clanton of Oakland City; eight grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Neeley, Dr. Karen Neeley, Jonathan Clanton, Julie Seebode, Jackie Harker, the Rev. Debbie Salters, and Troy Harker; 12 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Neeley of Vincennes.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., by the Rev. Debbie Salters and Dr. John Clanton. Burial will be in Lawrenceville Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Ill.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Lawrenceville Wesleyan Church.

FUNERAL OF MRS. HANNAH NEWCOMB TODAY

Hannah Newcomb, wife of Charles Newcomb lives south of the city on the Henderson Farm, died at 11:30 o’clock Monday night at the Good Samaritan hospital. The deceased was aged 30 years. Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the Gardner chapel. Burial will be made in Greenlawn cemetery.

Funeral of Mrs. Newcomb.

Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Hannah Newcomb, who died on Monday night, were conducted at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from Gardner's chapel, Rev. Payton of the Nazarene church officiating. The pallbearers were Homer Henderson, Samuel Henderson, Thomas Henderson, Chester Henderson, Jack Fortner and Clarence Thompson.

W. C. NIBLACK DIES SUDDENLY

Prominent Chicago Lawyer, a Brother of Mason J. Niblack and a Former Resident Died Early Thursday.

Mason J. Niblack received the sad news Thursday of the death of his brother, William C. Niblack, at Chicago. Mr. Niblacks death came as a distinct shock to his brother and to his many friends here who did not know that he was in serious condition. The information was conveyed in a telegram from Miss Sarah Niblack, a sister, of Indianapolis. Mr. Niblack was to have been operated upon for gall stones [sic] Thursday morning at a Chicago hospital but death came at 2 a.m. before the operation could be performed.

The funeral will be held at Chicago Saturday afternoon. Interment will be made temporarily at Lake Forest but the remains will later be removed to Crown Hill cemetery, Indianapolis. Mason J. Niblack left for Chicago early Friday morning. He last saw his brother when he was in Chicago last August.

William C. Niblack was born in Dover Hill, Martin county, the son of William E. and Eliza A. Niblack. He would have been 66 years of age next September. The family later removed to Knox county. William C. Attended the Vincennes schools and was graduated from Vincennes University, Georgetown University, of Washington, D. C., and from the Cincinnati school of law. He went to Chicago in 1887 and has lived there ever since. Engaged in the practice of the law as a member of the firm of Reiley, Johnson and Niblack, later Reiley and Niblack. He is the author of three works on law subjects. For many years Mr. Niblack had been vice president of the Chicago Title and Trust company. He has also been the receiver of several defunct banks.

The widow, who was Miss Fannie Herr, survives, as do their three children, Mrs. Narcissa Thorn, Austin Herr Niblack and Mrs. Alton B. Swift, all of Chicago. Surviving also are two brothers, Admiral Albert P. Niblack, U. S. N., and Mason J. Niblack, of this city; and two sisters the Misses Sarah and Lydia Niblack, of Indianapolis.

NOLAN, James

FIRE BOSS KILLED BY EXPLOSION

James Nolan, “Uncle Jimmy,” fire boss at the Oliphant-Johnson mine near Bruceville, was killed late Tuesday evening while on a tour of inspection of the mine. Nolas was following the shot firers who were at work in the mine and was caught by a belated explosion of a shot. His body was mangled. Nolas was aged 64 years. He is survived by a wife and several grown children. The remains were taken to Linton, his former home, Wednesday. Burial will be made Thursday.

NOLAND, Pauline

BICKNELL — Pauline Noland, 97, Bicknell, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the Freelandville Community Home.

She was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Daviess County, the daughter of Simon and Martha (Daugherty) Crock.

She married Lenord Noland on June 9, 1928, in Vincennes, and he preceded her in death in 1971 after 43 years of marriage. She retired from the Good Samaritan Hospital when Lenord became ill after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Bicknell United Methodist Church and formerly a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Her children and spouses, Charles Noland and his wife, Charlene, of Bicknell, Evelyn Krutsinger of Washington, Ind., Paul Noland and his wife, Cheryl, of Bicknell, Jon Alan Noland of Lexington, Ky., and Linda Noland of Bloomington survive her. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband; her parents; a daughter, Martha Davis; two sons, James L. Noland and Larry G. Noland; three brothers; and four sisters also preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Marianne Hawkins officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will escort her to her final resting place.

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Freelandville Community Home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel in Bicknell.

NOWASKIE, Davin Michael

Davin Michael Nowaskie, 20, 2215 E. Shady Lane, Vincennes, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at his residence.

Born Feb. 26, 1986, he was the son of Donald Jr. and Patricia (Sievers) Nowaskie.

Davin was a coal miner with Air Quality 1. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.

Survivors include his parents, Donald Jr. and Patricia (Sievers) Nowaskie of Vincennes; three brothers, Donnie Nowaskie III of Vincennes, DWayne Nowaskie of Vincennes and Daniel Nowaskie of Vincennes; paternal grandmother, Mildred Nowaskie of Vincennes; and maternal grandparents, Raymond and Ruby Sievers of Vincennes.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Nowaskie.

A private graveside service will be conducted at St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chad Carie, Jared Carie, Lawrence DeLisle, Travis Johnson and Wesley Green.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fredrick and Son Funeral Home, 313 Church St.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research of the charity of the donor’s choice.

NUELLE, Edwin A.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. — Edwin A. Nuelle, 77, 2001 Ramsey Road, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.

Born Sept. 18, 1921, in Dresden, N.D., he was the son of Fred and Gertrude (Mueller) Nuelle. Nuelle worked at Herman Nelson Manufacturing and Penberthy Manufacturing. He also had been a supervisor of maintenance at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran Of World War II.

He married Mary Ann Hayen Feb. 7, 1942, and she died March 17, 1999. A brother and two sisters are also deceased.

Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Young of Vincennes and Carol Treat of Honolulu, Hawaii; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will be in May Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be after l.p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

LAWRENCEVILLE, IlL — Mary Ann Nuelle, 77, 2001 Ramsey Road, died at 4:55 p.m. EST Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at Lodge of the Wabash in Vincennes, Ind.

Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Morrison, she was the daughter of Charles and Dora (Meyer) Hayen. Nuelle was a homemaker.

NUTTER, Agnes C.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. AGNES C. NUTTER

Mrs. Agnes C. Nutter, aged 47 years, died at 5:40 o’clock Saturday morning at her home, 1215 Main street. She was the wife of Binas Nutter, an Indian Creek miner. Death following an illness of about three weeks from influenza. She was also afflicted with heart trouble. She was a member of the Sullivan order of Eastern Star. Short funeral services will be held from the residence at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. The body will be taken to Mason, W. Va., for burial, leaving here at 6:10 this evening.

Surviving are the mother, Mrs E. A. Young, Mason, W. Va.; five sisters Mrs. AnnaMeis, Point Pleasant, W. Va., Mrs. Roy Sherman and Mrs. Jessie Gibbs, Mason, W. Va., Mrs. Stella Stitt, Iowa, Mrs. Alice Stewart, Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Harry Allamang, Vincennes.
