About The USGenWeb Project
The USGenWeb Project was established in 1996 by a group of genealogists who shared a desire to create online centers for genealogical research. Read more about the history here. In addition to our state and county sites, there are also a variety of Special Projects. If you are interested in being a part of our efforts, read about all the volunteer opportunities here.
About the Knox County INGenWeb Site
Knox County has been a part of The USGenWeb and The INGenWeb Projects since their inception in 1996 and has had 2 previous County Coordinators. John Stangle was the first coordinator for Knox and debuted our site in 1996. He maintained the site until 2012, when the county was made available for adoption. In 2017, Michael Aaron Pierce became the coordinator and began a redesign, dedicating the site to his son, Michael Wayne Pierce (1963-2007).
