DIED AT AGE OF SEVENTY-NINE

Mrs. Jane Lane, Passed Away Rather Unexpectedly at Her Home 1210 Vigo Street, at 6:20 O’clock Tuesday Evening.

Mrs. Jane Lane, a well known and highly respected lady, died at 6:20 o’clock Tuesday evening at the family residence, 1210 Vigo street. While Mrs. Lane had been in poor health for the past two weeks, and had been considered seriously ill for several days, her death, which was due to heart trouble, came rather unexpectedly.

The deceased was born at Nashville, Tenn., and was aged seventy-nine years, five months and twenty-nine days. She was twice married, her first husband Ephriam Jordan, having died a number of years ago. Later she was united in marriage to Isaac Lane, who also preceded her to the grave. She is survived by one son by her first husband, Jesse C. Jordan, of this city, and by two daughters by her second husband, they being Mrs. Charles Padarmel, of Iona, this county, and Mrs. Frank [illegible], of this city. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and four  great grand children [sic].

The deceased, during the greater part of her life, resided in the West Salem vicinity, having moved to this city several years ago. She was a life-long and faithful member of the Bethany Presbyterian church. Arrangements for the funeral will not be completed until word has been received from absent relatives. The internment, will, in all probability, take place at West Salem.

The funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. Jane Lane will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2[illegible] o’clock from the Bethany Presbyterian church, following which the remains will be taken to West Salem cemetery for interment. The remains will be held at the Gardner chapel until the hour of the funeral Sunday afternoon.

BICKNELL — David E. Lankford, 56, Vincennes, died at 11:52 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

He was an ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Local 107 of Evansville.

Survivors include one stepdaughter who he helped raise, Lisa Martin Straw of Terre Haute; one grandchild; one brother, Guy Lankford of Carlisle; and two sisters, Patty Jean Arthur of Bicknell and Pearl June Fletcher of Vincennes.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at McClure-Utt Funeral Home in Bicknell by Seth Alexander. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Monroe City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Don R. Lankford, 59, 721 N. 12th St., Vincennes, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at his residence.

Born Jan. 8, 1947, in Vincennes, he was the son of Willard Ray and Reatha (Roark) Lankford.

Don retired from Gemtrom and had also worked at Prestolite. He was a member of Franklin Heights Christian Church and served in the Army during Vietnam.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin Lankford and his wife, Tracey, of Vincennes, and Randy Lankford and his wife, Melissa, of Vincennes; two brothers, Ron Lankford of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Larry Lankford of Indianapolis; one sister, Sharon King of Vincennes; and four grandchildren, Logan, Caleb, Aubrey and Tanner Lankford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Ray and Reatha (Roark) Lankford; one nephew, Christopher King; and a great-nephew, Konnor King.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., by the Rev. Mark Shaw. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mayfair “Sally” Lankford, 86, Vincennes, died at 6:05 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, at her residence.

Born July 15, 1920, in Freelandville, she was the daughter of Roy and Grace (Bowen) McClung.

She had worked as a cashier at Charlie's Smorgasbord. She was a member of the Old Cathedral Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Lankford; and her parents, Roy and Grace (Bowen) McClung.

Survivors include a friend, Kathy Ferran of Vincennes, and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. Second St. Celebrant will be the Rev. John Schipp. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St.

LAUE, Raymond A., Jr.

Raymond A. Laue Jr., 85, Vincennes, passed away at 6:16 a.m. Sunday, Sept., 17, 2006, at GentleCare of Vincennes.

He was born May 5, 1921, in Vincennes, the son of Raymond A. Sr. and Helen L. (Draim) Laue.

He was a 1938 graduate of Lincoln High School and he served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Columbia being engaged in the South Pacific Campaign. He received the Purple Heart for wounds he received during combat aboard ship during a Kamikaze attack. He returned to Vincennes and married Mary Robinson on March 24, 1945, and she preceded him in death on July 20, 1997. He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church where he served as an usher and helped organize Bingo for the parish, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and formerly a member of the Clark’s Volunteers.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, John and Rhonda Laue, Donna and Daniel Pfoff, Daniel and Karen Laue and Robert and Linda Laue all of Vincennes. He was blessed having grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Laue, Jennifer and her husband, Zach Gilmore, Mark Laue, Kelly Pfoff, Danielle Pfoff, Michelle and her husband, Chris Lee, Eric and his wife, Christy Laue, Jason Laue, Jacob Laue, and Joseph Laue. His two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Lee and Brenton Lee; two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Bernard Rich of Hanson, Ky., and Ruth and Floyd Cramer of Linton also survive. Several nieces and nephews will sadly miss him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. David Fleck officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Mary, in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Military gravesite honors will be conducted by the All-weather Firing Squad.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home where a parish vigil service will be conducted at the close of calling hours.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the St. John Catholic Building Fund.

LAWHEAD, Bobby R.

BICKNELL — Bobby R. Lawhead, 69, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his home in Bicknell with his wife and daughter at his side.

He was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Edwardsport, the son of Roscoe and Daisy (Everett) Lawhead.

He served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1975. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 10 and he last worked at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility until 2000.

He was married on Sept. 18, 1968, to SuCha Yom who survives him. A daughter, Lydia Lawhead-Duncan, and a granddaughter, Alyssa Marie Duncan both of Bicknell, survive him. A son, Allen Lawhead, and a granddaughter, Jaime Lawhead of Broadway, Va.; a sister, Burtrice Pepmeier of Bicknell, also survive. His parents; a sister, Clara Trowbridge; and another sister infancy, preceded him in death. A private funeral will be conducted Thursday. He will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Vincennes.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw chapel in Bicknell.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Good Samaritan Hospital Lincoln Trail Hospice or the Guardian Angel Home Health Care in Bicknell.

LAWLIS, Dorothy W.

SANDBORN — Dorothy W. Lawlis, 83, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006.

She was born July 20, 1918 in Sandborn and was the daughter of George O. and Chloe (Wood) Sanders.

Dorothy lived for 83 years in the same house which was occupied by four generations of her family. She was the joint owner of a farm that had been in the family for over 100 years.

Dorothy graduated from Sandborn High School as valedictorian of her class. She received an associate's degree from Vincennes University in 1938, a bachelor's degree from Franklin College in 1940, and a Master's of Science degree in botany from Indiana University in 1947.

On Dec. 24, 1946 she married Chelsea Lawlis.

She taught high school at Frichton, Edwardsport, Vigo Township and North Knox. Her principal subjects were mathematics and biology. When she retired in 1984 after 33 years of teaching, the North Knox School Board presented a citation to her for dedicated teaching.

She was known as a demanding teacher and after graduation many of her former students returned and thanked her for expecting so much of them. Dorothy was very interested in plants, flowers, trees and birds and traveled throughout the United States to study them.

She was previously a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Sandborn Baptist Church, and most currently a member of the Grace Evangelical Church in Indianapolis. She served as pianist for 50 years at the first two churches and she was an active member of the Gideons International Auxiliary and served in its jail ministry. She was also a board member and officer of the Bethel Cemetery Association.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen Lawlis of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Mike Lawlis of Indianapolis, and Philip Lawlis of Lewisberry, Pa., as well as 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. CST on Tuesday at the Sandborn Baptist Church with a viewing beginning at 1 p.m.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. EST today at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave., Indianapolis.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Sandborn Baptist Church or to the Grace Evangelical Church Missions Fund.

EVANSVILLE — Former Bicknell resident Ruth B. King Lawton, 80, Evansville, died at 7:55 a.m. CST Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at the Parkview Care Center.

Born Oct. 26, 1918, in Evansville, she was the daughter of Walter and Una (Washington) King.

Lawton was a 64-year member of Forest Hills Wesleyan Church in Evansville, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of Wesleyan Women International. She retired in 1982 from McLean Trucking Co.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas P. Lawton; two daughters, Jane Lawton of San Rafael, Calif., and Mary Francis of Evansville; a son, Roy Lawton of Scottsbluff, Neb.; a brother, James King of Russellville, Ark.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at !0 a.m. CST Friday at Forest Hills Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Mike Stoelting officiating. Entombment will be in the Alexander Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. CST today at Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel.

Darrell F. Lay, 48, Vincennes, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born Dec. 2, 1957, in Knox County, the son of Jack Lay and Martianna (Loudermilk) Lay.

He was a 1976 graduate of Lincoln High School and he earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and was the social services director at the Waters Nursing Center in Princeton.

He attended Hart Street Christian Church, was a former member of the Moose and served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Hagen) Lay of Vincennes; children, Raechel Dulaney of Vincennes, Hannah Dulaney of Birmingham, Ala., Stephen Dulaney of Louisville, Ill., Dillon Dulaney of Vincennes, Bethany Smith of Indianapolis, Amanda Lay of Indianapolis and Ethan A. Lay of Pinkstaff, Ill.; two grandchildren, William Lay and Reid Smith; two sisters, Jacquelyn L. Holscher and Sandra Cardinal both of Vincennes also survive. Several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home with Pastor Nate Hagen officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.

Funeral services of Helen LeDune 11 months old girl who died at the Good Samaritan Hospital Friday evening at 6:45 o'clock from heart trouble, were held Sunday at Carlisle. The body was sent to the home of the parents at Carlisle, Saturday. She had been ill for six months.

Delores E. Lee, 76, 340 Felt King Road, Apt. 206, Vincennes, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Born Feb. 14, 1930, in Knox County, she was the daughter of Clifford and Edith (Merriel) Anthis.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce (Lee) Taylor of Vincennes; one son, Steven Lee of Mesquite, Texas; three sisters, Mary Thorn of East Wenatchee, Wash., Jessie Moore of East Wenatchee, and Bernice Thoma of Vincennes; three brothers, Edward Anthis of Vincennes, Willard Anthis of Vincennes and Franklin Anthis of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers; four sisters; one girl; two boys; and her parents, Clifford and Edith (Merriel) Anthis.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

WHEATLAND — Mrs. Nellie LEE, 68, a Wheatland native, died Friday at 8:40 p m in Good Samaritan Hospital, after an extended illness.

She was born April 29, 1901, a daughter of the late Charles and Clora DIXON HEDRICK. She was the wife of Thomas LEE, who died in 1961.

Surviving are two brothers, Elvitt (sic) HEDRICK of Vincennes, and Paul HEDRICK of Owensville (sic).

The body is at the Donaldson & Richardson Funeral Home where funeral arrangements are incomplete.

LEGG, Morris R.

Morris R. "Cabbage Head" Legg, 64, of Vincennes, passed away Thursday October 7, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born May 21, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late John David and Emma Mae (Tillie) Legg. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  

Morris was a truck driver for various trucking companies for 40 years and retired from Wayne Wilkins Trucking Company 2 years ago.  He was known by his CB radio handle "Cabbage Head".  An avid golfer, Morris was a member of the Vincennes Golf Club and played on the Senior Golf League.

Morris leaves behind his wife and companion, Jenny (Plummer) Legg and five daughters, Paula McCormick of Bloomington, Susan Dreiman of Monroe City, Tina (Johnny) Payne of Cowan, TN, Sherry (James) Laslie of Lawrenceville, IL and Billi (Ryan Fraley) Richards of Lawenceville, IL.  He is also survived by seven grandchidren, Jay McCormick, Brandon Dreiman Holly Dreiman, Jessica Laslie, Collin Laslie, Mason Laslie, Sadie Fraley and a great-granddaughter, Emma Rae McCormick.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Plummer officiating.  Military honors will be performed by the All Weather Firing Squad.  There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Morris.

LEIMBACH, Walter W.

Walter W. Leimbach, 92, Vincennes, passed away at 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born May 22, 1914, in Vincennes, the son of Henry Leimbach and Mary Lutzinske.

He attended Gibault High School and on April 17, 1934, he was united in marriage to Lora E. Longest in Lawrenceville, Ill. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a sales representative for Hoosier Office Supply and retired in 1976. He was also chief of security at Essex Wire and he formerly worked for over 30 years for Blackford Glass Co. until it closed; he has also worked at Tip Top Creamery and was a grocery clerk at Boltinghouse Grocery early in his career. His passion around his working career was fishing and he enjoyed woodworking. On July 19, 1997, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lora E. Leimbach.

His daughters, Phyllis Mikiska and her husband, Larry, of Vincennes and Cheryl Leimbach of Vincennes survive him. He was blessed by his grandchildren, Debra Guentert, Rebecca Mikiska, Walter Mikiska and his wife, Dana, Ronald Mikiska, Lori Bennett and her husband, Terry, Pamela Carie and her husband, Bob, Douglas Mikiska and his wife, Dawn, Daniel Mikiska and his wife, Kris. Fifteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren also survive him.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Sylvester, Henry, Raymond, Clarence, Clements, and Richard Leimbach; and one sister, Corrine Drake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2004 N. Second St., with the Rev. Joseph Swartz officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife, Lora, in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Sacred Heart Building Fund.

Mrs. Ella Leister, aged 47 years, died at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Good Samaritan hospital following a serious operation which was performed on her Monday. Her home was at 624 Busseron Street.

Mrs. Leister leaves one son, Captain F. E. Leister, U. S. A., two grandsons, Charles Fred and Randolph R., two daughters, Henrietta and Madelene, all children of Captain Leister, one adopted son, C. C. Daniels, and three sisters, Mrs. H. Twistmeyer and Mrs. John Burch, both of Vincennes, and Mrs. Melvin Field, of Indiana Harbor. Captain Leister was called home by the serious illness of his mother.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Deceased leaves a wife, Mrs. Ollie Leverich, his mother, father, three brothers and other relatives. His home was at Bridgeport, Ill., where he was a forman [sic] for Snowden Brothers, as an oil pumper.

Lydia Margaret (Hitt) Like, 82, Vincennes, entered into rest at 2:42 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

Lydia was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Knox County. She was the daughter of Perry Samuel and Elizabeth (Helderman) Hitt. They preceded her in death.

She was married to Lester E. Like, who also preceded her in death.

Lydia attended the Salvation Army Church in Vincennes. Lydia had been employed by the Reliance Parachute Factory, the lab at Good Samaritan Hospital and had worked as a domestic worker.

She was a member of the Ladybugs and helped cook for the board dinners at the Salvation Army. Lydia was well known for her homemade noodles, angel food cakes and other baked goods.

Lydia is survived by one daughter, Beth Frederick and her husband, Kent, of Terre Haute; three sisters, Bessie Luedke of Terre Haute, Jane Frederick of Terre Haute and Mary Ellen McClaskey of Vincennes; two grandsons, Casey Ray Frederick and Jason Lee Frederick; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home, 505 Main St. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes.

HEAVY HAND OF DEATH

Claims Mrs. Minnie Sadie Lincoln Wife of E. T. Lincoln and Twin Babies -- Sister at Point of Death at the Same Home.

The grim reaper, Death, laid a heavy hand on the home of E. T. Lincoln, the well known barber, 712 North Third street, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock when his young wife, Mrs. Minnie Sadie Lincoln, passed away, shortly after becoming the mother of twin children, a boy and a girl, both born dead. Influenza was a contributing cause of the death of the mother and the sad announcement of three-fold misfortune in the family, came as a great shock to all who knew the young couple.

The funeral services will be conducted this (Tuesday) afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence and will be private, but friends of the family, who desire to view the remains may do so up to 1 o’clock. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery, the mother and her twin babies to be laid to rest in one casket.

The deceased is survived by her husband, E. T. Lincoln, also by her father, Jasper Catlett, one brother, Will Catlett, and one sister, Mrs. Lou Gribler. Mrs. Gribler, who was for many years employed at the store of Gimbel, Haughton & Bond company, and who has been making her home with her sister, Mrs. Lincoln and her father, was lying at the point of death last night at the Lincoln home, due to double pneumonia, following influenza.

Mother and Babies Buried

Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Minnie Sadie Lincoln who died Sunday afternoon, and her twin babies, born dead shortly before the death of their mother, were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon from the residence, 712 North Third street. Rev. L. C. Howe, of the First Christian church, officiated. Burial was made in Fairview cemetery. The pallbearers were Joseph Tromley, H. Haartje, Charles Fordyce, B. Cunningham, Hugo Pummel and F. B. Merchant.

Illness Fatal to Wheatland Druggist

Wheatland, Indiana — Collin LINDSAY, 63, partner in the W. H. HEDRICK Drug Company, died Thursday morning at the Good Samaritan hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, after a year's illness.

Born in Brazil, Indiana, November 19, 1894, the son of Samuel David and Elizabeth VOGEL LINDSAY, he had been a resident here since 1924 when he married Lucille Hedrick.

She survives as well as the mother-in-law, Mrs. Jennie HEDRICK with whom they lived, two sisters, Mrs. Mae HONETER of Terre Haute and Mrs. Myrtle DONHAM of East St. Louis, and two brothers, Samuel and Forrest of Terre Haute.

He served in the ambulance corps during World War I and was with the Army of Occupation in Germany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past master of the Monroe City Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services will be held from the Donaldson and Richardson Funeral Home here Saturday at 2 o'clock. Rev. Howard CHATTIN and Rev. Gerald LEAVELL will officiate. Burial will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Wheatland — Lucille LINDSAY, 79, a former Wheatland pharmacist, was pronounced dead on arrival at Daviess County Hospital in Washington at 5 p.m. Friday. In recent years she had resided in Highland Apartments in Washington.

Mrs. LINDSAY operated a drugstore in Wheatland for 48 years, retiring in 1968. She graduated from Purdue University's School of Pahrmacy in 1921.

She was born Apr 24, 1901 to Willard and Jennie BULLOCK HEDRICK, and on Feb 2, 1924, she married Colin LINDSAY. He died in 1958.

There are no survivors.

She was a member of the Indiana Pharmacists' Association, of Wheatland Christian Church, and Wheatland Study Club, which she helped found.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Gill Chapel in Washington, with burial in Wheatland Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday.

LINDY, Adrian M.

Adrian M. “Buzz” Lindy, 79, 1164 Wabash Ave., Vincennes, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at his residence.

Born July 5, 1927, in Gibson County, he was the son of Wright and Dora (Hays) Lindy.

Adrian had worked at Princeton Gardens in Princeton. Following that, he was a routeman for Continental Baking Co., during which time he moved to Vincennes. Before retiring, he worked 24 years at Vincennes Steel.

Adrian was a 50-year member of the Vincennes Masonic Lodge No. 1 F&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite, a past commander of the Knights Templar Commandry No. 20, past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 291, past commander of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 508, and the Rebekahs in Petersburg. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947.

A collector of belt buckles and Volkswagen bugs, he enjoyed reading and woodworking. He had played Santa Claus and enjoyed being around people and telling stories. Lorene and he loved to travel. Adrian was a proud father and grandfather.

His wife, Lorene (Maxwell) Lindy, whom he married Sept. 4, 1949, died Dec. 5, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Wright and Dora (Hays) Lindy; and two brothers.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Wittrock of Vincennes, Venita Oursler and her husband, Jerry, of Princeton, and Amelia Green and her husband, Chris, of Mooresville; one sister, Irma Lindy of Princeton; and a granddaughter, Rachael Marie Green of Mooresville.

An Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., a Masonic memorial service will follow. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

FREELANDVILLE — Robert W. Linneweber, 78, of Freelandville, died at 6:10 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Dec. 17, 1927, in

Freelandville, he was the son of Irvin and Ilma (Groteguth) Linneweber. Mr. Linneweber was retired as owner of Linneweber Hardware Store and was a farmer.

Robert graduated from Freelandville High School. He was a member of Bethel Church in Freelandville. His wife, Luella Linneweber, whom he married Nov. 22, 1947, died May 26, 2004. Survivors include two daughters, Sue Ellen Dunn of Wheatland and Karen Granger of North Bend, Wash.; three sons, Victor Linneweber of Freelandville, Lester Linneweber of Washington, and Randall Linneweber of Brielle, N.J.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Max Linneweber of Washington, Ind.; and three sisters, Marilyn Johanningsmeier of Freelandville, Bertha Conrad of Bicknell, and Agnes Lee of Freelandville.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Church in Freelandville. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Church.

Arrangements were handled by McClure-Utt Funeral Home in Bicknell.

LONG, Frederick, Jr.

Frederick LONG Jr. 1924 - 1997

Fred LONG Jr., 73, of rural Wheatland, died Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Room.

Born June 29, 1924, in Knox County, he was the son of Fred LONG Sr. and Ruth (WEIBER) LONG.

LONG was a machinist and farmer. He worked for McCord Corp. in Washington. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of Vincennes Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washington Moose Lodge, Monroe City Masonic Lodge, Evansville Scottish Rite and Evansville Hadi Shrine. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.

He married Joan LONG November 12, 1955, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sisters, Effie CONRAD of Vincennes and Norma J. WYGAL of Ann Arbor, Michigan and a brother, Bill LONG of Wheatland. A sister is deceased.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wheatland Christian Church, with the Rev. Michael Duffer officiating. Burial will be in Wheatland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brockman Funeral Home and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Wheatland Christian Church or Arthritis Foundation.
