The last class to graduate from WHS was in 1964 with the next years high schoolers attending Hillsboro, and the grade school students went to Wallace. Several pictures of Wallace and more explanation about the school is on page 78 + in the 2013 History of Fountain County, Indiana. Like most rural and small-town schools, they are all gone, WHS specifically being torn down in 1967 "ending about 127 years of educational history of Jackson Township Schools."

WALLACE - QUESTION on NEW SCHOOL - 1895
Source: Rockville Tribune 25 April 1895 p 8
Jackson Township, Fountain County is considerably divided on a proposition to build a new school building at Wallace. At first it was intended to construct a modest edifice costing $2,500 but some of the folks got ambitious and raised the price to $4,000. This also raised a kick and resulted in a row which the county commissioners were called on to settle. The case came up at Covington on Monday of last week and was decided in favor of the $4,000 fellows. Hon. James T. Johnston, who happened to be in Covington that day, is thus mentioned in connection with the Veedersburg News Notes: "Hon. James T. Johnson was an interested spectator. Jim said he could see the 'pint! "Ef they got a school house, Jackson would go Republican in 10 years and them Myers fellars knows it." - typed by kbz
