SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP
NEW SCHOOL IN SHAWNEE
Source: Veedersburg News, Friday July 25, 1916
The plans for the new central school in Shawnee Township have been completed and bids will be received within a short time on the work of construction. The plans call for a most modern structure, showing a new style of architecture in the building. It will be build entirely of brick, using varied colored brick for the trimming instead of stone. There will be a large gymnasium in the basement with locker rooms and baths for the boys and girls. A balcony with seats overlooking the gymnasium will be a new feature. Over the gymnasium will go a large assembly room with a stage and class rooms on either side. It is planned so that an addition can be built to it at some future time, should the need of the school demand it. It will be a fine building and a credit to Shawnee Township and Trustee Chas. Watts, with whom the plan originated for a central school. - typed by kbz - sent by Sharen
