The Waveland hot rod race witnessed the largest crowd of its history Sunday when 809 people were present with 19 cars lined up for the various features of the race. The first Heat Race was won by Rainey of Franklin. The second by Honver of Kokomo and third by Frank Wright of Danville, Ill.
About the time the features were over the weatherman stopped races for the day, but rain checks were'n't retained and fans who hold the rain checks will be admitted at half price next Sunday.
Despite the rain, a new track record was established by Leo Rice of Crawfordsville of 20.4 over the former record of 20.3. The next was by Johnny Fowell ? of Indianapolis a 20. TGhes e19 cars have been coming back Sunday after Sunday and their familiarity with the track ensures faster and faster competition. - transcribed & submitted by kbz
