Darlington – the safe of the Metzger Coal & Lumber Company was broken open Tuesday night and $37 in cash and $160 in checks taken. All but two of the checks and the money box were found by Earl Hulvey on a road just west of here. The safe in the office of the Farmers’ Feed & Grain was also looted the burglars getting but $1.60. Officers investigated.
