Business Directory – Dr. Theo McMechan – Dentist 207 ½ East Main Street.  Prominent among our leading citizens, and probably no one in the profession of dentistry in the State, is more worthy of mention in our sketch than Dr. Theo. McMechan. He grew up in this county and began the practice of dentistry in 1865 and established in Crawfordsville in 1867 where he has remained ever since.  He makes a specialty of fine plate work, for which he has established an enviable reputation both in this section and throughout the country.  Indeed, his work is recognized even by the members to being superior.  As a proof of our statement we only need to refer to his recent election as a member of the State Board of Dental Examiners. He also does a splendid general practice. Besides his reputation as a dentist he stands foremost among society circles throughout the State. He is the representative to the National Union for the State of Indiana and is one of its supreme officers, a position of honor. Is secretary and collector of the local organization of Royal Arcanum, Royal Society of Good Fellows and National Union: quartermaster of the 8th Reg. U. R. Knights of Pythias, a member of the G. A. R., being a soldier in the 11th Ind. Reg., and also secretary and collector of the Order of Equity. Besides being a member of these societies he formerly held the position of City Clerk for a period of seven years. Our city may speak with unpardonable such men as this.
