Elston Bank - On and after January 1, 1883, the firm name of the partnership existing between the undersigned will be Elston & Company, instead of Elston & Son. We will continue to do a general banking business, receive deposits, discount notes and deal in government, county and municipal bonds. Note: Here is a nifty Elston Bank 1875 (money order = type of early check)? - Thanks to CDPL - another Elston & Son - 1875 (deposit slip) - although I'm not a bank history buff, I would say this is about this time or shortly after - again thanks to the C'ville library's awesome image database.
