Dr. G.S. Clemens, the well known dentist who left this city for Joplin, Mo about 3 years ago has gotten himself into some difficulty there. T is charged that he kissed a young lady of that place while she was helpless in his chair and for that alleged insult her brother and a friend beat the doctor to a jelly. He denies the insult to the lady. A special to the St. Louis Globe-Democrat from Joplin says: Dr. GS Clemens, a dentist has instituted a suit for damages against Silas Cane, postmaster at Blendsville and L. Hall. He sued to recover $5,000. The suit grows out of a beating which was administered to Clemens by the defendants last Monday on account of insults alleged to have been offered by him to lady members of the defendants families.

Joplins, June 18 – Residence lots o n North Jackson Avenue between D and E streets have been converted into mining tracts by Dr. GS Clemens, who has leased out six of his lots to Earils & Co of Webb City who have sunk a new shaft and produced enough ore in sinking to return $120 in royalty to Dr. Clemens and the beauty of it is says the land owner that the mining will not impair the value of the lots as residence sites. On the other hand, he claims the lots will be worth more for residence property for the reason that the mining now being done has proven the existence of a solid limestone cap rock, coming up with a few feet of the surface and continuing down to just about the ore formation which occurs at a dept of 57 to 100’. The shaft went into ore at 57’ and was still in it at 100’. Dr. Clemens says will run close to 5%. The cleaned concentrates, treated over a custom mill, assays better than 60% metallic zinc.
