On the 13th of March 1882, just one year ago the Argus, a poor, punny (sic) infant was born. Friends gathered around it and it was cherished by more than one. By careful nursing, constant care and attention fed on good patronage and public favor it thrived and from time to time grew stronger. When it became sufficiently strong to do good, it tried to do it whether or not it succeeded we are not to say. Today the Argus is a year old, it finds its way into almost every house in the city and gives a correct record of the days proceedings. In the future as in the past it will do all the good it can, steering clear of political or sectarian conversaries but exposing any wrong it may see and criticizing the acts of officials. The paper has attempted to do nothing more than furnish the local news, this is all that its patrons demand of it and in the future it will do no more than keep its readers posted on what is going on about them. - kbz
