Looking for the parents of William J. WATKINS who was born in 1822 in either Indiana or Virginia (depending on which census one reads). He married Sarah Jane HUDSON of Ohio in Randolph Co, Indiana in 1845. In 1850 they were living in Waltz Township, Wabash Co, Indiana. About 1853, they moved to Iowa. Their children were Elizabeth, James, John, David, Newton, Mary, Winfield, Charles, Robert Douglas, George, and Sanford. I suspect his parents may have been Thomas Watkins and Betsey WISEHEART originally of Montgomery Co, VA who moved to Henry Co, Indiana about 1820. Alsa Bade Watkins was a brother of Thomas. I have lots of information to share and am lacking only the proof that William is indeed the son of Thomas and Betsey. Thank you in advance for any information you can send me.

Hello Hoosier's. I am researching my ggreatgrandfather who is listed in the 1850 and 1860 Census index for Waltz Twp, Wabash Co, IN. His name is Troy HARDEN and was born approximately 1843-1844 in Wabash Co. Since Troy was listed as 26 years old in the 1870 Census where I live, I must assume that the Troy Harden listed in the 1850 Census Index was my gggrandfather. Researching the last name WIYSEL. My great-grandfather was Daniel Harrison WIYSEL. Because he was much older when he fathered my grandfather alot of the history has been lost regarding the family. I believe Joseph WIYSEL was Daniel's father. Joseph WIYSEL was born in Cambria County, Pennsylvania around 1790. He married Susanna WEISINGER. They left Pennsylvania for places unknown, but settled in Wabash County, Indiana. Joseph WIYSEL died during the Civil War. His wife Susanna was still living in Wabash County Indiana in the late 1880's. Joseph and Susanna became parents of six children and four were still living in 1899 . I would like to know when Joseph and Susanna died, where they are buried, what their childrens names were or any significant information. I am not positive that Daniel was a son of Joseph, but feel there is a connection because it is not a common surname and because in an Arkansas history book it mentions that an A. WIYSEL was a past resident of Wabash CO. and Daniel was living in Arkansas during the same time as A. WIYSEL. Can anyone help with this problem? Are there any WIYSELs left in Wabash county? Thank you very much for your help.

Doing research on the family of David Sean MURPHY. He practiced medicine in both Wabash and Grant Co. Indiana. Had a daughter Hazel Patricia Murphy who married Samual Wayne PIETY. David Murphy died sometime around 1919 in Grant Co. I know very little about this family and would appreciate any pertinent information. David was my greatgrandfather. I know nothing about his wife or her family either. I believe the time period involved would be from 1830? to the time of Davids death. I think his wifes name was Margaret (SCHNIEDER or ALSAFER?) I do know a relative of hers lived in a house in South Wabash that is still standing and is probably one of the oldest houses in the city. Thank you so very, very much,
