General Notes: Daniel and Roxanny settled in Clermont County, near Richmond Ohio around 1815 to 1818. His first wife was Roxanny, his second was Mary Ann McCrary. She had 5 children from a previous marriage. The next year, Hiram (his son) married his step sister, Sarah McCrary. In 1813 he walked from New Orleans
to New Glouchester, Mass. and back to Ohio. When he moved to Evansville, Ind. in 1818, he took up farming.

General Notes: Hiram had gone to California in 1854 to find gold. He followed his younger brother. He mined at Nevada City, Montezuma Hill, Calif. for 3 years while his family remained in Evansville. He was returning to them on the SS Central America, which capsized off Cape Hatteras during a hurricane. He was
drowned. The last that was heard from him was a letter to his brother in Ca. while he was in Panama. The ship left Havana, Cuba on Sept. 8, 1857 and ran into the storm. Over 400 people drowned.
