Dassel Family Cemetery

While I was at the Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, an elderly neighbor who lived at the SE corner of Volkman Road and Old State Road, told me that his mother, Mary Dodd (or Todd), was buried near a wooded area to the northeast 1/4 - 1/2 of a mile away. We did not try to locate the spot.

This is probably Dassel Family Cemetery that is the subject of an article submitted by Carol Lantaff to The Tri-State Packet, September 1993, p 42.

"The Dassel Family Cemetery is located in Scott Twp, Vanderburgh Co., IN, 4/10 mi. east of Old State Road on Volkman Road on the north side of the road, down a long gravel lane. Ms. Lantaff would like to thank Byrdell MARTIN for informing her of this old cemetery.

"The following stones were found in an abandoned family plot on the old DASSEL farm. Originally it was fenced in with approximately 12 graves, but only 3 stone are now standing. I was told that some of the family died of typhoid fever.
