During the course of researching my HATFIELD I obtained a narrative dated 26 Sep 1949 of the HATFIELD branch of the same family that originated with Joseph HATFIELD in Newton, MA in 1734 with many of the descendants removing to Ohio and Indiana in the early 1800s. My branch went to Iowa. The most common areas of Indiana mentioned in the narrative were Leesburg, Winamac, Oswego and Clunette. The narrative mentioned that at the reunion held at Bourbon, they were trying to raise money to replace a deteriorating monument for William and Mary HATFIELD who were buried at the Sandridge Cemetery.

Although I am not a descendant of this branch, I have researched and verified earlier Hatfields as well as my own and other branches of the family. My question is - are there any Hatfield descendants living in the area. I would like to contact them to share our common ancestry and learn more about their family.

RYAN, James married Esther Ann WEST 19 June 1852. She is probably the daughter of Robert and Sally Ann FAULKNER who earlier had married an unknown WEST, and had a child, Savoy WEST. Ester Ann WEST is living the Faulkners, Washington Twp in the 1850 census. Savoy West is listed with Robert N. Faulkner in Jackson Twp, his probable uncle.

Dr. John H.G. SHOE resided in Kosciusko County, IN around 1840 with his wife, Elizabeth SPEAR EDGERTON (widow of Samuel Edgerton) and children: Charlotte Amelia Edgerton and Mary Antoinette Shoe. Elizabeth died on 25 Feb 1843, so John sent Charlotte to live with maternal relatives and "Bound" Mary out to the Jacob OTT family. I am seeking further information on John's life prior to marriage to Elizabeth. He was born ca 1810 in Baltimore County, MD and died sometime after the Civil War but before 1870. Who were John's parents? Did he have siblings? What was his heritage? Scottish or German?
