Ingersol Chapel

Ingersoll Chapel near Hillsboro has been having a sort of church war for some time past over placing an organ in the Chapel. Part of the members favored the organ and a number were dead set against it. An agent placed an organ in the church on trial. Last week the door of the church was broken open and the organ was entirely destroyed – broken into splinters. It is the most dastardly deed ever committed in Cain Township and excitement has been running high. The organ was valued at $85 and will probably have to be paid for by the church. No clue to the perpatrators of the deed. --- kbz

The work on Ingersoll Chapel is completed. The chapel is one of the nicest country churches around and this place of enterprise speaks well for the community. Most all of the members are anxious to put an organ in the church while a few object because they were not “raised that way.” It seems natural the excuse a valid one, should apply to other things more than a church organ. Would they object to applying it to the sewing machine, traction engine, cyclone stacker, automatic weigher, carriage and other useful and labor-saving devises? ‘Tis said, “Wonders never cease,” and they haven’t.
