Presbyterian Church - Covington - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Following Attica people attended the formal installation ceremony at the Covington Presbyterian Church Monday evening for Rev. Charles A. Surber as pastor of the Attica and Covington Churches: Harry Wilbur, AS Dolch, Mrs. Charles Frey, Miss Winnie Webb, Mrs. Will Colvert, Mrs. Nellie VanDeventer and members of the latter’s Sunday School class. Rev. Elijah A. Arthur, Crawfordsville, former pastor of the Covington Church delivered the installation sermon. Rev. WA Millis of Crawfordsville, formerly superintendent of Fountain County schools and former president of Hanover College gave the charge to the congregation. The Rev. Bartlett Hess, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Chicago gave the charge to Rev. Surber. Rev. Mr. Preston, pastor of the Presbyterian and Methodist Church in Ridgefarm, Illinois sang a solo.  Rev. and Mrs. Suber entertained members of the congregations at a reception at their home following the service. Rev. Surber has served as supply pastor of the Attica and Covington Churches for the past two years; at the recent annual meetings calls were extended for his appointment as regular pastor.
