Wells County Infirmary or Poor Home Cemetery

The Poor House or County Infirmary building and cemetery were located in Harrison Township.
The cemetery is gone and there are no tombstones remaining but the building still stands (2010).

The original research on the Poor Farm Cemetery was dones by Annis Jean Hite Patee who writes,
"The following was gotten from www.usgenweb.com site for Wells County, Indiana, Cemetery Pages. These pages gave me the: last name, first name, date of death, age at death (if any was recorded), and Funeral Home. The rest of the information was gotten from ancestry.com. I have not been to the actual site but, since there is no indication of where the cemetery was, I am assuming no headstones exist.
With the exception of Thomas Flemming, all the interments I have entered were handled by the McBride Funeral Home. Mr. Flemming's was handled by Thoma Funeral Home."

"The County Home building still exists on County Home Road between County Roads 350 S and 400 S, Wells County, Indiana.
There are no signs of where the cemetery was. It was not included in the original index and records seem to be unavailable.
Names have been gleaned from funeral home records. The following funeral home records were cross-referenced to supplement and verify information.
Brown Funeral Home - Warren; Elzey-Dickey Haggard Funeral Home - Ossian; Jahn Funeral Home - Bluffton; McBride Funeral Home – Bluffton
Thoma/Rich Funeral Home – Bluffton - partial; Walker Funeral Home – Montpelier; Warfield Funeral Home - Montpelier"
