"This is a picture of my grandmother; Bertha Hadley, taken at "Hoffman," Thorntown, Indiana, ca 1891. Bertha is the daughter of Milton and Sarah Jane (Moffitt) Hadley. She was born 15 Aug 1871 in Thorntown, and died 16 May 1945 at Evanston, Illinois. She is buried at Memorial Park, Skokie, Illinois. Bertha married Benjamin Franklin Andrews 26 Nov 1896 in Thorntown. To this union 6 children were born, with 2 dying in infancy while my grandparents were missionaries in Mexico."

"This is a daguerreotype of my great-grandfather, Milton Hadley. It was given to my father, Milton Hadley Andrews, from his mother, Bertha Hadley Andrews, along with the hand written note. The note was written 21 Sep 1939."

"This may have been Milton and Sarah Jane (Moffitt) Hadley's wedding picture. They were married 4 Oct 1865 in Sugar Creek Twp., Boone County, Indiana."

(Back row): Olive Hadley Coffin (b. 14 Feb 1868, d. 20 Apr 1943), Bertha (Hadley) Andrews (b. 15 Aug 1871 d. 16 May 1945) , Jeremiah Marcus Hadley (b. 24 Feb 1872 d. 6 Jan 1899), and Elma (Hadley) Dixon (b. 15 Aug 1866 d. 3 Sep 1921).

"The man to the right in the photo with hat on and hands in pocket is James Anderson Haines, born 17 Mar 1852. The lady to the left with light apron and glasses is his wife, Laura Albany Wheeler. They were residents of Big Springs, Boone County. The original photo was not dated. James Haines and his brother George owned a wagon and carriage business, "Haines and Brother" in Big Springs around 1874. I would like to be able to identify the other members of this family. I know they had 7 children, John B., Kate (Mary Catherine), Aurelia B., Frances E., Maud M., Ray D., and Nettie."

• 10/28/2007: Chuck West wonders if the gentleman in the suit holding his hat; "Could he be Samuel Jones WEST and the woman immediately behind him in white [his wife] Aurelia Bell (HAINES) WEST?" Samuel & Aurelia (Haines) West are Chuck's grandparents. "In the picture we once had of my grandparents, they both had glasses and Grandpa wore a moustache almost identical to the gentleman in the dark suit."

Grandson of Robert I. and Elizabeth (Carter) Hicks. This photo was taken in 1915, somewhere near Jamestown. The only certain identification is of Charles A. Hicks, second from left, grandson of Robert I. and Elizabeth (Carter) Hicks. The gentleman on right is likely Henry Hicks, son of Robert I. Hicks and Elizabeth (Carter) Hicks.

Wife of Robert I. Hicks. Died 1906 near Jamestown. Buried in IOOF Cemetery, Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana.

He lived near Jamestown with wife Elizabeth (Carter) Hicks. Married in Boone County 1849. Died in Boone County, 1902. Buried in IOOF Cemetery, Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana.

"He was Sarah Jane (Shockley) Isley's grandfather who married Elizabeth Edmundson on 18 January 1847. They had two children, Martha Ellen & Joseph F. Hilligoss. Joseph died in infancy. His wife died in 1851. He then moved to Shelby County and married Elizabeth Shockley, 3 Nov. 1856. Their children were: Mary C. Hilligoss born 9 April 1855, Sarah E. Hilligoss born 3 November 1856, William J. Hilligoss born 22 November 1858, Matilda J. Hilligoss born 9 April 1861 (died 18 August 1876) and the youngest child born to Jacob and Elizabeth was George B. Hilligoss born 24 August 1862."
