Boone County Photo Gallery ~ Q-T
I love old family photographs, they are one of my most
cherished items! Having the ability of being able to connect
a face to our written genealogy brings real life to the
pages. I hope you will discover a photograph of your
ancestor in this gallery, and I also hope you will share
your old family photographs with us. Use the
Submit Data link on
the top of the page to send copies of your photos. Any old photographs with a Boone County
connection are welcome ... individuals, buildings, houses,
geographical locations, cemeteries, gravestones, etc. The
only requirement is that we do not post photographs of
living individuals without their consent, and usually only
photographs of individuals taken more than fifty years ago,
and thus of more genealogical interest.
Do you recognize someone in the Photo Gallery? Can you add
more information? Send me
your comments and I'll add them here and on the
photograph entry.
NOTE:
All photographs, compilations, derivative and/or original

work, by any method, either commercially or

Cassity Fisher: "This is
probably Ogilva Franklin Shockley (born
abt 1875) the son of Alfred E. Shockley
and his first wife Mahala F. Mann. "Gill"
who later referred to himself as Frank, married
Grace Dodson abt 1901. They had one child
Amelia M. Shockley who was born in 1906.
Gill would have been a 2nd cousin to Sarah Jane
Isley. Alfred's father, James, and
Sarah's father, John, were brothers."

Cassity Fisher - "Sanford E.
Shockley was a 1st cousin to Sarah Jane
Shockley Isley. He was born to Henry
and Sarah Jane Rader Shockley in
Rush County, Indiana on January 25, 1857 and
later moved to the Hendricks/Boone County area
to be near his Shockley relatives who had
moved there sometime during the 1850's. He
married, first, Georgiana Gillespie with
whom he had a daughter, Maude. After Georgiana
died, he married Katie Cassity with whom
he had a son, Loy. He died December 5, 1921 in
Columbia, Missouri."

Spangler "I have her
obituary. She lived in Hendricks County and traveled
across the state to spin and work the wheel for
Pioneer displays. This is the only picture I have of
her and it is a "double exposure". She was in the
newspaper several times and a educational movie was
made of her spinning before she died. The movie was
used in school systems across the USA. The movie was
shot in Hendricks or Boone County Indiana. There is
a newspaper article in the Jamestown Press of her. I
remember seeing the movie when I was in Elementary
school out here in California. I wish I could get a
copy of it now!" |

Spangler's portable sawmill
"This photograph was taken circa 1905
[in] Boone County or Hendricks County, Indiana.
Connally Spangler and his workers would lay
railroad tracks to your farm and cut down the trees
with his portable saw. The names of the workers are
unknown. In this photograph Connally is standing in
the foreground on the right side." |
