Parke County, Indiana: Record of Wills Will proved: 17 April 1856

Last Will of Benoni Morlan

In the name of God Amen,

I Benoni Morlan of Jackson Township, Parke County in the State of Indiana, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged the remainder of my Estate Real and Personal. I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows to wit: I give to my two daughters all the following described Real Estate to be between them equally divided; the West half of the North West quarter of Section twenty seven (27), Township fourteen (14) North of range six (6) west, and the said two daughters, Hannah Catharine Wood and Kisiah M. A. Gates is to pay my son James N. Morelan {sic}, Twenty five dollars each, out of their part , and to my two sons, Benjamin F. Morlan and John Morlan, all the following all the following described Real Estate to be between them equally divided in value between them; the North West quarter of the North West quarter of Section thirty five (35,) Town fourteen (14), North range six 6, six west, and the South West quarter of the North West quarter of Section thirty give (35) Town. fourteen (14), North range six (6) West, and the East half of the North West quarter of section (35) thirty five, Town fourteen (14) North of range six,(6) West. And my said sons Benjamin F. Morlan and John Morlan is to pay our of their share to James N. Morlan, Twenty five dollars each. and my son John is to have one blasé faced Bay Mare, one cow and one Bed, Bedding, one sow and pigs and four sheep. and my sons Benjamin F Morlan & John Morlan is to support myself and wife so long as either of us shall live. and my dear wife is to have and to hold all both Real & personal after all my debts are paid, so long as she shall live. And also my sons Benjamin F. Morlan and John Morelan {sic} is to have one Wagon between them which I now own as their own property and is to have those crops of the land left to the two daughters for their service for clearing the land from and after this date, and my son Isaac Morelan {sic} is to have all the debts which he now owes me, up to the present date and also he is to have Twenty five dollars at the final settlement of my Estate. And the proceeds of all my personal property is to be equally divided between all my heirs after paying all my debts.

Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my said sons Isaac H. Morlan & Benjamin F. Morlan to be executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name, and affixed my seal, the eleventh day of November, in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
