LADOGA MOVES UP IN STANDINGS

Ladoga's Little Canners moved into a challenging position for the Montgomery County Little League title bydealing New Richmond and Rollie (no-hit) Hackard a bitter 3-0 defeat Tuesday night at Ladoga. The win forged the Little Canners ahead of New Richmond in the standings, ladoga is 5-2 while New Richmond lost its 3rd game in 8 starts. Curt Newby, one of the better Little League pitchers, bested Hackard in the brilliant pitching duel. He allowed New Richmond just two hits in chalking up his 5th win of the current campaign. Waveland's McCarty, an on-and-off pitcher this year hurled a masterful no-hitter over New Market and Botten, winning 9-0. McCarty facd only 19 batters in the near-perfect performance. Only one runner reached base on him and that was on an error. The loss dropped New Market to .500 for the season at 4 and 4.
