-- The Waveland Varsity gave the Gladiators a rough fight but just couldn't last the last round. The Hornets came out in the 1st quarter with a mighty flash and took the lead at 7-0 in the first two minutes. The Gladiators then started the long run home and it was all the Hornets could do to hold the lead at 16-14. The Gladiators were just two points behind at the start of the 2nd quarter but they didn't waste any time racing to a lead of 3 points at half-time 26-23. At the start of the 3rd quarter the Gladiatiors left the Hornets at the post and were on the home stretch 44-37 when the quarter was over. The Hornets were brought down when Garry Bazzani was taken to the Crawfordsville Hospital with a dislocated shoulder. The Gladiators started to gain on the Hornets again but the Hornets just couldn't hang on... let's get behind our team and get them fired up for the big one.

Note: Both of these articles would have been in 1964

The Hornets were really pepped up for sectional tourney, thanks to the Pep Club, Pep Band and other fans. The Hornets want to thank everyone for their for their support even if they didn't come out on top. Cheerleaders -- Our vasity cheerleaders, Theresa Stockwell, Jean Hunt, Judy Myers and Linda Graham have done a wonderful job this year. They kept the Hornets in shape even when the going got rough and without them the Hornets wouldn't be as great as they are now. The "B" team cheerleaders Linda Myers, Carol Miller, Connie Staggs and Karen Bazzani have also done a wonderful job cheering the "B" team on to victory.
