ABELL-- Thomas, age 42 years, beloved husband of Christa Abell, father of Dollie, Robert, Joseph and Betty Abell, brother of Mrs. Lola McKibens, Mrs. Gladys Bradley, Alvin Abell and Herman Abell, all of Indianapolis, Audrey Abell, Charles Abell and Mrs. Margaret Friday of Evansville, Ind.; Mrs. Ella Bradley of Kokomo, Ind.; Mrs. Cascenda Howard and Albert Abell, Arkansas, and Mrs. Catherine McMillian of Cincinnati, O., passed away Jan. 11. ABRAM
Henry O. Abram, 65, of Solsberry, died Saturday at Bloomington Hospital. Born March 11, 1931 in Greene County, he was the son of Otha Abram and Cletis Wampler. He was retired from the General Motors Plant in Indianapolis. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and the Richland Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Delores (Hamm) Abram; one son Larry D. Abram of Solsberry; two daughters, Patty Abram and Marsha English, both of Solsberry; four sisters, Juanita Hudson of Solsberry, Eveleen Johnson of Bloomington, Alice Baugh of North Carolina and Mary Carmichael of Smithville; one brother, George Miller of Wayne, Mich.; five grandchildren and three step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Abram and Russell Miller. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Green and Harrell Chapel with Brother Bill Adams and Brother Joe Hamm officiating. George Acuff - Born September 1, 1904 in Stinesville, IN - Died March 12, 1993 in Bloomington, IN - Parents were George River and Sally (Williams) Acuff. Survived by sons, William, Gene and Wilford Buel Acuff and brother Louis Acuff. Preceded in death by his wife Beryl in 1988; brothers William, James and Lee Acuff and sisters, Chessie Medley, Sally Johantgan, Arminta Eaton and two infant sisters. Died on the 9th inst., at the residence of her son, B.F. Adams, near Stanford, Monroe County, Indiana, Mary Adams, aged 72 years and four months. Mrs. Adams was among the first settlers of this county, having moved here with her father, Benjamin Freeland, fifty-two years ago. She was a member of the M. E Church for nearly fifty years. ALEXANDER
After being blind 15 years, James H. Alexander, 69 years old and a member of the Christian Church, died at 6 o'clock this morning at his home 3 miles east of the city on the 10th Street Pike. Mr. Alexander was born and raised in Monroe County, was a good citizen and was the son of Jackson Alexander, whose death occurred just 33 ( sic) years ago. He leaves a wife and the following children: Ernest, Curtis, Harry and Roger Alexander, Mrs. Walter Chitwood and Mrs. Otto Binkley, also two sisters--Mrs. Mary Barnhill, this city, and Mrs. Sarah Crafton of Roachdale. Mrs. Lula Kate Allen, 51, wife of William Allen, died at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in her home at 421 west 11th street. Her death, due to canter of the stomach, followed a long illness. She had been bedfast the last three weeks. In addition to Mr. Allen, survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Chester Elliott, of Bloomington; a stepdaughter Mrs. Ray Chandler; three sisters, Mrs. Marion Hatton, of Bloomington, Mrs. Everett Clark and Mrs. Anna Brown, of Leesville, and nine grandchildren. Member of Pentecost Church The deceased was a member of the Pentecost church on east 16th street. Funeral rites will be conducted from the Arthur Day Chapel at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with Rev. Joseph M. Campbell, pastor of the South Side church, in charge. Maudia B. Solomito Arney, 94, Fortville, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007. She was born October 15, 1912 in Monroe Co., Indiana to the late William and Carrie Shields Clark. Maudia graduated from Smithville High School, Class of 1930. She married Savario Veto Solomito November 1, 1930 and he preceded her in death July 27, 1937. She then married Dasel E. Arney September 1, 1938 and he also preceded her in death November 15, 1981. Maudia worked for Indiana University as a custodian for 15 years and was a member of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis and Tampa, FL. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 16, at 3:00 p.m. at Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington, IN. Maudia is survived by her daughters, Colleen Craig and Alberta L. Lashbrook; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Final care and arrangements entrusted to Shirley Brothers Thompson Rd. Chapel.
