Lucy Flaugher to Mrs. John Martin
New Richmond, Ind 3/6/1911
Mrs. John Martin,
Newtown, Ind – Dear Mrs. Martin: As I was talking to my sister, Mrs. Walter Dorsey, this morning over phone, and she asked me to send you the Whooping cough receipt as she had her receipt misplaced, you need not get alarmed if your child vomites after taking dose of medicine, as in most all cases they will as soon as it gets to stomache, which it should if not, it acts as laxative, passing through taking phlem with it. You can tell when the child is going to take a coughing spell, then give it 1 teaspoonful, if every few minutes as it will not hurt how often you give it, you will see the coughing spells will soon get further apart. Mrs. Wm. Graves’ baby of only a few months old fattened on Whooping Cough and this medicine. She said she wouldn’t be afraid to take a 1 months old child through with this medicine. Mr. Ed King’s daughter several years ago had whooping cough so bad the Doctor’s give her up. I sent them the recipe and it cured her. Her mother says it was all that saved her life. We have sent it to most every state in United States. Don’t use the artificial honey and keep medicine in a cool place to keep honey from souring. I keep a little in a glass with spoon in it ready at any minutes hoping you will give this a fair trial and have success. Mrs. Lucy Flaugher
