BARNES, Albert Raymond
Born: in Attica on the 9th of March in 1867 and passed away July 20, 1944, (buried Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, California) son of Francis Barnes and Lucinda Raymond. His fame centers around being Attorney General of Utah from 1909-1917, starting out after graduation first from North Western University and on to Michigan Law School. First he went to Salt Lake to begin a private practice but his value was quickly noted and he appointed Deputy Attorney General, the following year moving up to Attorney General keeping that then until 1917. Back to private practice but was again called to the public when he was elected Utah’s 3rd Judicial District judge which he served until 1924. He finished his career back in private practice, and retired in Hollywood where he passed at age 77 from arterio sclerosis and senility. He married Josephine Naisbitt in Salt Lake and they were parents of two sons, Francis Raymond and Robert A. Sadly, he had a tiny obituary in the LA Times 7-23-1944 p 23 saying he lived at 1943 ½ N Beachwood Drive and was pronounced dead on arrival at Hollywood Receiving Hospital. RIP!
