Pvt. Harold E. WEAVER, a local boy is a member of the 86th of Black Hawk division that landed Sunday from Europe 300 Indiana men are in the div which has a total strength of over 14,000. These men will be given a furlough of 30 days before being sent to the Pacific. The 86th division were in combat 42 days into the Puhr pocket with Hodges' First Army into Bavaria with Patton's Third Army and later into Austria with Patch's 7th. They captured 77,000 Germans during battle action. Major Gen. Harris M. Melasky of Austin, Tx commands the div. Pvt Weavers. He is the son of Mr and Mrs. Guy Weaver of the Waveland vicinity. -- kbz
