NURSES called

Source: Crawfordsville Review Aug 13, 1918

13 women from this county have thus far signed up for the student nurse course, leaving a shortage of 7 delinquents of the county quota. However, the time of the enlistment for the student nurses has been extended to next Saturday August 17. The enlistments thus far received according to Mrs. AB Grover, chairman of the committee for enlisting student nurses, has been mostly among the working class of women. She also states that the training does not confine a girl to a certain length of time to service, but that during the first two months the girls can come home if they are not satisfied. At the end of two months if the instructors do not find the girl suitable to continue the training she will be sent home. The 13 women from this county who have already offered their service to their country are: Mary Copus, Waveland Adah Lehman, City Bessie Beecher, City Vera Clouser, Darlington Aula Clouser, Darlington Cuba Boldt, City Mary C. Boldt, City Alta Stockdale, Wingate Lois Perry, City Charlotte McLoed, City Evelyn Wray, City Mrs. Zelma A. Lee, City Rachel Heath, Waynetown, Ind. Three enlistment days will be held this week besides an all-day enlistment during Saturday and that evening at Bischof’s Store. All young women between the age of 18 to 35 years are requested to drop in and investigate the proposition. Decide to aid your country during trouble and this is the best known manner for women at this time to serve during the present war. If the self-supporting girls can sacrifice their time for their country, the wealthy class should sacrifice their time also.
