MOORE, Jesse F

At least ten registrants must have been on duty the day of the mandated WWI registration as Jesse Frank Moore, age 25 had a different one (Fred Robinson) than the first nine. He lived at 1106 E. Pike and was an auto mechanic for Davis Auto Company in Crawfordsville. Born June 7, 1891, in Yountsville, he was the son George Washington and Olive Brown Moore, joining a family of four other children (Vern; Lou; Charles and Clyde). Jesse was listed as medium height, stout of body, with grey eyes and light hair.

Although always interested in the car, the truck became important as well when he joined the City Fire Department later on. Married to Mary Stewart, they had at least two sons, Bill & Jack, and lived in various areas of Crawfordsville, including South Water and Tuttle Ave.

On May 21, 1968, he died and is buried with Mary (who passed away almost eight years later) in Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery. Likely he was a Mason as this was (before someone got the dumb idea to change the name) the Masonic cemetery for many years - kbz
