GOODWIN, George - letter home
Letter from Sgt. George Goodwin
Source:: Darlington Herald Friday Jan 4, 1918
The following letter from an old Darlington boy will be of interest to many of our readers. It is from George Goodwin, who for many years made his home here, but who is now a Sgt in Co D 334th Inf. at Camp Taylor. We were indeed glad to hear from George and to know he is getting along so nicely. Camp Taylor, Ky Dec 17, 1917 Dear DIr: While I was down in Louisville this morning I picked up a paper and it was the Darlington Herald. It looked very good to me to see the names of the people I know. I am stationed here at Camp Taylor. We have about a foot of snow on the ground but we are all well and keep plenty warm. Tell Bob Lynch this would be a good place for him. I do not know just how long I will be here. I saw Walter Moffitt once but do not know what became of him. Most of the boys are enjoying life here but a few of them do not like army life so very well. I hope that everybody in Darlington is O.K. Tell them the Herald looks good in a city as big as Louisville but better to me. Yours Truly, Sergeant Goodwin. -- kbz
