William Simms and Arthur Smith left here yesterday afternoon on the 4:00 Big Four train for Syracuse NY to enter the service there. Charles VanDyke has been inducted into the service through a special induction from General Crowder as general mechanic at the Speedway, Indianapolis, Ind. He will leave today for the service.

Another War Baby – Another war baby was added to Montgomery County’s list yesterday with the arrival of Robert Lesley White. Its father, Roscoe White went with the last contingent to Camp Taylor.

Mrs. Clay Bee, of Vance Street, whose son, Leo Bee is in France was beginning to become very much alarmed over her son’s welfare because of the long time that had elapsed since hearing from him. Monday her fears were allayed when a letter came stating he was well and getting along fine. The letter was mailed July 4. He states the portion of France in which he is located is most beautiful and the climate fine. Instead of sleeping in the tents they are using the stone houses which is much cooler and more comfortable.

Pvt. Leo Lamar Bee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clay Bee, enlisted in the US Army June 1, 1917. He left for overseas service June 11, 1918. Private Bee was born Nov 11, 1898, in Putnam County, Indiana, but has lived in this county for the past 13 years. He is a member of the Ben-Hur lodge. He received his education in Putnam and Montgomery Counties. He was first stationed at Gary, Ind but was transferred to Hattisburg, Miss Oct 13, 1917, where he remained until he left for overseas service
