He married Miss Jane McQuaid on 10-17-67. He died in June 1942 at age 100.
He was survived by 1 son and 2 daughters; John Dare, Mrs. Addie Goodall, and
Mrs. William Ware all of Fairmount. b. 11-21-41, d. 6-25-1942. Buried

DARE, ROBERT- Roberts Wife Mary died in 1911, later he married Mrs. Mary Emile
(called Mother Molly by his family). She died in 1932, after that he moved in
with his daughter Addie in Fairmount until he died.

Dean. Married Sarah Jane Coffield from Coshocton, Co., Ohio.
Daniel Dean was stationed at Indianapolis, Ind. and was on guard
duty there. He caught pneumonia and was sent home where he died
Jan. 31, 1865.
(It seems the army added the 'e' to the spelling of Dean after Daniel's
death and the family has kept the new spelling to the present day.)

From Whitson's history we have the following information:
Son of Rev. Solomon and Jane (Hubert) Duling, natives of Ohio, moved
to Grant Co., Jefferson Twp. in the decade of the 1830's.
Edmund Duling, soldier, was shot through the knee while on a gunboat
in the Mississippi River and died soon afterwards from lockjaw,
caused by the wound. He was a widower at the time of his death and
he had a daughter Sarah J. who is now married and living in Ohio. (1914)

From Whitson's history we have the following information:
Son of Rev. Solomon and Jane (Hubert) Duling, natives of Ohio, moved
to Grant Co., Jefferson Twp. in the decade of the 1830's.
Elijah Duling spent 3 yrs. in the war, returned home, and when passed
thirty-five years and still a bachelor, died as a result of a train
wreck.

From Whitson's history we have the following information:
Son of Rev. Solomon and Jane (Hubert) Duling, natives of Ohio, moved
to Grant Co., Jefferson Twp. in the decade of the 1830's.
Born Apr. 13, 1844 in Jefferson Twp., Grant Co., Ind. and died
June 17, 1910. At last call for troops he enlisted before he was 20
yrs. old, in 1864 and served until end of the struggle. His military
service lasted about 1 year and most of that time he was on detached
duty.

DULING, JOHN W. son of Dean and Nancy (Miskimon) Duling. m. Sallie (Marine) in 1856.
They built a log home 5 miles east of Fairmount on State Road 26. This was the first
house east of the Fowlerton Road. It is in this house that their 3 children were born;
David Chap, Elizabeth, and Lydia.

Moved to Fairmount in 1845 with parents. During the Civil War he served from
1864 to 1865. He married Miss Matilda J. Wilson on Sept. 3, 1862 and fathered
7 children; Mary, John M., Flora L., Frank, Eva, Oliver and Effie. 1837-1925.

Elliott, Dr. David S. Practiced medicine in Farimount from 1858 to 1867.
In the spring of 1864 Dr. Elliott went with other Fairmount men to
Wabash to enter the Union Army as a surgeon. While quartered at
Wabash he met with an accident which resulted in permanent injuries,
from the effects of which he later died. He continued to reside in
Fairmount and practiced medicine as his health permitted until spring
of 1868, when he removed to Richmond, IN with his wife and only daughter,
Miss Hettie Elliott. He passed away in 1869.

Elliott, William S.; Corp, Co C, 89th Reg. He was born 1-28-1844 on grounds that
is now Veterans Hospital on southeast edge of Marion, along the Mississinewa
River. His grandparents moved there from Virginia in 1822. The land was
taken over by the Federal Government and later turned into the Soldiers Home.
His family moved to Fairmount Township where they engaged in agriculture.
He volunteered in Co C of the 89th IN Infantry at age 18 and was mustered out
7-19-65 at Mobile Alabama. He returned to Fairmount and married Miss Ruth
Wilson in Sept. 1865. He later was the first man to import a tile-making
machine to the township. The machine was powered by a team of horses and
turned out tile tubes for drainage. Died 1931. Buried Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN

William S. was elected 3 terms to county council and served as trustee of White's
Institute in Wabash Co. for 15 years. He discovered a way to convert his tile
factory to steam powered. He died 7-19-1931, and is buried in Park Cemetery,
Fairmount with his wife. The success of the tile drainage system accounts for the
prosperity of Liberty Twp. and the eradication of disease caused by stagnet ponds.

NOTE: More info on John Fitsimons in Shiloh Cemetery. He was wounded at
Antietam 9/17/1862 in the hip. He recovered and was in the battle of Gettysburg
and the Wilderness. He was wounded in the leg at Petersburg, VA in June 1864. He
was sent to a hospital in Washington, DC where his leg was amputated. He died
from complications of his wound on 8/17/1864.
This stone was down in the Shiloh Cemetery Nov. 10, 2001 his stone was reset and
cleaned by a professional Cemetery restorer, John "Walt" Walters of Fayette
Co., Indiana. He made this his Veteran's Day project this year. Thank you Mr.
