LOUGH Family Reunion - 1947

The Lough Family Reunion was held at the Scout Cabin in Veedersburg Park Sunday Aug 27.  Better than 60   .  qstrregistered during the day. The forenoon was spent in visiting and arranging the tables for the wonderful dinner.  When all were gathered around the long table the chairman had each one introduce themselves and tell where they lived.  Thanks was returned by Leslie Elmore.  At the business meeting the secretary and treasurers report was read and all outstanding bills were allowed.  An impressive memorial service was conducted by Amanda Bilsland honoring Ida Taylor; Edith Gebhart; Orville Jarvis and Mells Lough.  The nominating committee advised reelection of last years officers, motion was made and carried to the effect.  Consequently the following officers will serve another year: President, Hazel Myers; Vice President, Raymond Moore; Secretary, Zada McClue; Treasurer, Herman Myers.  A song fest was enjoyed by all with Mrs. Will McClure at the piano.  Mrs. Laura Steinburg of Topeka, Kansas won the prize for coming the farthest.  She is a descendant of William Lough.  The oldest person present was Mrs. Martha Rose of Hillsboro.  She is a daughter of Jane Lough Kerr.  The youngest member was Harold Lough three years old son of Joe and Ruby lough of Parke County.  The couple having been married the shortest length of time was Mr. and Mrs. Will McClure.  Many pictures were taken during the day.  The reunion will meet again next year at the same place…    ~~~transcribed by kbz
