Yeddo Old Settlers - 1938

The annual reunion of residents, and one-time resident of Yeddo, Ind was held on August 25th for the 60th time.  A careful check of autos and other rigs showed that 20,000 people were on the grounds. Prizes were given for various reasons: the first man to reach the grounds came in a horse and buggy rig. Prof. Leonard came from Los Angeles, 2,200 miles, the oldest man was Abner DeHaven of Covington, aged 95; Mrs. Ellen Redenbaugh of Kingman, oldest woman was 86; Henry Lawson of Lafayette had the longest beard and Mrs. AG Ratcliff of Waynetown the longest hair, 4’2”; Mr. and Mrs. John Gephart of Hunrick, ill has been married 62 years; the best dressed man in the close of 60 years ago was Floyd Tharp of Edinburg, Texas. This reunion has been an outstanding event in the country. - kbz
