Veedersburg – The Charles Forrest American Legion dinner, in observance of the 50th anniversary will be held Wednesday March 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sterling Aid House. 55 members and veterans of WWI who will be honored are Charles A. Boggs, Kenneth Cade, William Helgers, Everett Howard, Fred Reid, Ray Freas, Jesse Wilhite, Charles Helms, Steve Riley, Perry Kinneer, Cy Van Deventer and Gordon Minnick. Legion members and families are invited to attend. Guest speaker will be Vince Grogg, judge of Fountain County, Miss Beth Nelson will give a vocal solo and Fred Reid and Kenneth Cade both 50 – year members will entertain with an instrumental duet. State Commander Ralph Cushman, a member of the local post will also be present. Harry Merrill Jr, commander of the Charles Forrest Post is in charge of arrangements. The meeting of the American War Mothers Chapter was held with Mrs. Nellis Potter as hostess. 10 members were present with two guest, Mrs. Irene Keene and Mrs. Mary Davis. The program was opened by the president, Mrs. Bernice Rush and devotions was given by Mrs. Kate Ruch. An all-day district meeting will be held May 4 in the Lutheran Church in Attica. A social hour followed the meeting. Wayne Anderson of the Farmers Home Loan Association was guest speaker at the March meeting at the Fountain Warren Realtors Association. President Gene Grubbs presided at the meeting and announced that the material for National Realtors Week would be distributed at next month’s meeting. EJ McGinnis, VP reminded members of “Day School for Appraising,” which will be held in Chicago in April.
