SMALLPOX - 1913

Source: Attica Ledger Press 20 June 1913 p 4

Health Commissioner Dr CC Wert of Covington was called to Fountain this week to investigate two cases of smallpox which recently broke out there.  He found Silas Cotey an old man past 70 badly infected with the disease and his son-in-law, Harry Rector with a light case.  Both cases have been quarantines and all efforts will be made to prevent the spread of the disease.  About a year ago several cases were reported in the same neighborhood.    ---transcribed by kbz
