SHOAF, DC - pets ?

Source: Attica Daily Tribune 8 Oct 1918 p 1

DC Shoaf of Wallace is the possessor of a pair of horned snakes.  Numerous tales have been told of horned snakes but no one in Mr. Shoaf’s immediate neighborhood ever saw one until Ed Beck and Arthur Miller killed this pair. The snakes very much resemble blue racers and are about 3’ long. The horns extend from point of the tail.  They are about ¾ of an inch long as hard as flint and come to a point as sharp as a needle. Mr. Shoaf states if any person desires these reptiles for museums they may be had by calling on him.
