One of the big attractions of the week will be the Newtown Band. They will play two concerts – one at 1 o’clock and one at 8 o’clock Saturday. They will also play for the pageant. The Newtown Band is one of the oldest, best known bands in this section of the State, having been organized for over 30 years. During this time they have played many notable engagements. Among the later ones they have played are Hoopston, Illinois, four of July celebrations, Elks Carnival at Lafayette and several engagements at Lafayette during the National Encampments. The Band has also run excursions to Marion. You will want to hear some real music during Home Coming Week and the Committee has taken care of that by engaging the Newtown Band.
