MINICK, Simon - 70th anniv

Mr. and Mrs. Simon Minick of Veedersburg held their 70th wedding anniversary in the Christian Church in that city on Wednesday there being about 135 guests present to enjoy the festivities of the occasion. Rev. John Boord, a nephew of the venerable couple had charge of the days program and right well did he tell the important part of the family history. Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Boord, parents of Mrs. Minnick came to this section of Indiana from Ohio in the late 20s., At that time of their coming there were few people in Fountain County and the county was in a raw, unsettled state. Mr. Minnick came to this section of the country in 1829 as a boy of 7 years and has spent the great part of his life in this vicinity. Among those present from this city were Oliver Boord who was present at marriage of the then young couple, Elijah Boord and family and Dr. and Mrs. JH Sailor. - kbz
