McPHERRIN, Thomas - oldest post master

A correspondent of the Attica Ledger writing from Rob Roy, in Fountain County, says: “Rob Roy has the oldest postmaster and Justice in the United States, in the person of Thomas E. McPherrin, who is now 88 years old. He came to Rob Roy 45 years ago, when our town was in its prosperity, and when they talked of moving your city out for a kitchen. He has been postmaster 33 years (he recently resigned) and Justice 33 years; has united in marriage 130 couples, and if the boys and girls are right lively, he is able and will do a good deal more in that line.” - kbz
