Mellott, Ind Dec 15 – The farm residence of Mark Edwards on the Wallace Furr farm one mile south of Mellott was destroyed by fire Monday morning shortly after ten o’clock. It is supposed that it caught fire from a spark on the roof on the whole roof over the kitchen was aflame when it was discovered. Nothing was saved from the kitchen, but almost everything was gotten out of the front part of the house. The Mellot fire company with the fire engine, made the run but the fire had too much headway to save the house. There was no insurance on either the house or the contents. – kbz
