COVINGTON - Wabash River Bridge
Source: Covington Friend 6 Oct 1893 p 3
The new river bridge is finished. The work of building the grade and approaches leading to it is being rapidly pushed to completion by the contractions, Messrs. Franklin and Martin. The improvement when completed will fill a long felt want. Covington naturally draws a large volume of business from the west side of the river. In the past this has been shut off from a few weeks to months each year on account of high water the river rising above the grade and making crossing dangerous when not impossible. The new grade will be raised above high-water mark so that travel will not be impeded hereafter at any season. --- kbz
