COOPER REUNION 1947

The annual reunion of the descendants of Miles and Lillie Cooper including a number of cousins was held at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. Marion R. Cooper which is the old Cooper homestead, near Hillsboro on Saturday, June 14. The event was also in the nature of a farewell for Miss Mary Cooper, twin sister of Marion R. Cooper, who expects to sail for Africa on July 20 after having been here on leave for about a year. Miss
Cooper has served as a missionary in Africa for 17 years and is returning to resume her work. Of the 96 present there were 80 who partook of the bountiful feast at the noon hour.  The direct descendants are four sons, Henry and Shirley Cooper of Indianapolis and Sollie and Marion of Hillsboro and four daughters, Mrs. Katie Stuart of Muncie and Mrs. Mittie Walker of Olivet, Ill and Mrs. Ida Clemmons and Miss Mary Cooper, of Hillsboro all of whom were present. During the afternoon program a memorial service was held for the father Miles Cooper, who died a few months ago at the age of 96 (1 April 1947) and for his son Harry Cooper, who died in Indianapolis a few weeks later. A son-in-law, Earl Walker who died at Olivet during the year and William Clemmons, another son-in-law who died a few years ago.
