CHUMBEA Reunion 1927

Veedersburg, Sept 19 -The descendants of John and Margaret Shipe Chumbea held their annual family reunion Sunday at Hub Park in this city with more than 100 members of the family and relatives present. Greetings were exchanged during the morning hours and at noon a bounteous basket dinner was enjoyed.
A splendid program followed consisting of: Opening address: John W. Cronk; Piano Solo by Lucille Thomas, Erasna Drollinger and Mary Jane Songer; vocal duet, Mrs. frank Clumbea (sic) and son Roy; reading - Omega Helms; Vocal Duet Mrs. Ida Brannon and Mrs. Robert Hutchins; Prayer - Mrs. Veeder Helms. Brief talks were made by Charles Isley; Mrs. Frank Chumbea; Mrs. CL Mowery; Mrs. C Leonard; Grant Bonebrakeand Veeder Helms.
Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chumbea and Elmer Shoaf of Champaign; Mr. and Mrs. FA Chumbea of Rantoul; Mrs. CL Mowry and son George of Fairburg; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Reagel of Hoopeston; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Isley, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Isley of Jamesburg; Mr. and Mrs. MC Leonrd; Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Keller of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Davis and Robert Chumbea of Bloomingdale; Mr. and Mrs. C. Winner of Rockville; Mr. and Mrs. Manford Songer; Mr. and Mrs. William Mattsbarger of Covington; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thomas and children of Hillsboro.
It was agreed to hold the reunion next year at the same place and date. Mrs. Morton Patton was elected president and Mrs. Walter Brannon secretary of the organization.
