Newtown, Ind Feb 27 – Mr. and Mrs. John Bittenbender celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Newtown Wednesday Feb 21. The couple is widely known having conducted the hotel in Newtown known as the Pennsylvania House for the past 24 years. They were married in Mottsville, Mich 50 years ago and came to Newtown in 1873 where they have since resided., There were 125 guests entertained at the celebration Wednesday, the hours being from 2-5 o’clock in the afternoon and 7-10 in the evening. The rooms were prettily decorated in white and gold and delicious refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Davis and children and Mrs. Victoria Bittenbender and little daughter, all of Monte Vista, Colo and Elton McClure and family of near Newtown were the immediate members of the family present. – kbz
