C. M. Berry, editor of the Veedersburg News is the father of the
street fair system. The idea first originated in his fertile brain, and as a
beginner he launched a pumpkin and corn Show, which has enlarged into the big
street fairs where thousands of dollars are expanded in making attractions and
grand displays of merchandise, fine stock and all kinds of amusement to draw
the people. In fact the street fairs
have almost completely wiped out the county fairs. This result is due to
Charley Berry , the greatest hustler in the
state of Indiana.—Hoosier State, Newport -s
