ATTICA band - 1891
Source: Covington Friend 9-16-1891
Attica has organized a fine band. They bought their instruments last week at a cost of $720. Also, their uniforms. The suits are handsome ones, of dark green cloth, trimmed with silver braid. There is no better equipped or dressed band in the state. What’s the matter with having them play on the ground during the fair? The band is organized as follows: Will Lippold, drum major; Ed Hemphill, bflat, leader; CE Bryant and Chas. Gebhart, solo b flats; Chas. Loebe, euphonium solo; Duncan Buchanan, tenor; Lauren Sargeant, solo alto; Ward Riffle, 1st alto; Geo. McDermond, tuba; J. Frank McDermond, clarinet; John Bowen, snare drum; Chas. Dengler, bass drum. The officers are: CE Bryant, pres; Chas. Loeb, sec; Lauren Sargeant, treas; D. Buchanan, custodian. Directors: Loeb, Buchanan, Riffle and Gebhart. - kbz
