  • EGG CASSEROLE
  • (Mrs. Wernle – Montgomery County Genealogy Cookbook – about 1975)
    This recipe is a Christmas morning breakfast tradition in our family because it is made the day before and can be baking while gifts are opened.
    7 slices white bread (regular slices)
    2 pkg (4-ox each) shredded cheddar cheese
    6 eggs
    3 C. Milk
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    ½ tsp. salt
    ½ tsp. pepper
    3 strips of bacon, cub in half.
    Trim crusts from bread and crumble bread. Mix bread and cheese and spread in bottom of 7x12 flat baking dish. Beat milk and eggs together. Stir in remaining ingredients and pour over bread and cheese.  Refrigerate covered, overnight. Next morning bake uncovered in 350 degrees oven for 50-55 minutes.  Enjoy!
