GOLD CAKE

Gold Cake – Stir to a cream one half cup of butter with two of sugar. Add the yolks of six eggs well-beaten and if you like, the whole of another, then add one half a cup of sweet milk with one half a teaspoonful of soda in it. With the flour put in a teaspoonful of cream of tarter. This should be as stiff as cupcake. A teaspoonful of cloves, one of cinnamon and half a nutmeg with raisins or currants, or both is considered by some an improvement.
