Alamo news item – There was a silver
wedding at Jonathan Nutt’s last Saturday. Mr. Nutt and wife were taken by
surprise when a little before noon about 50 relatives and neighbors drove up in
carriages and wagons with well filled baskets and taking possession of their
large and nicely furnished residence, began spreading the wedding feast. A full
description of that dinner is impossible by your correspondent. Suffice to say
that if the editor of The Star ever saw or partook of a grander feast he may
count himself one of the lucky fellows. In the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Nutt
brought out 4 or 5 gallons of maple syrup which they boiled down to wax. After
quite an enjoyable time at candy pulling, the friends departed, wishing the
glive bride and groom another 25 years of happy life.
